PROGRAM INFORMATION:    Our programs are based on a number of components including physical literacy, age appropriate skills and game-brain development and, most importantly, fun!

SEASON LENGTH :    We anticipate commencing House League the week of May 6, with the season finishing the week of June 24 (will depend on whether there are rain out sessions to make up).

EQUIPMENT:   Soccer shin pads and proper socks to cover those pads are MANDATORY for all age groups.   Kids can wear either shorts or long pants depending on the weather.   All House League kids will be provided a jersey that is theirs to keep - in inclement weather, athletes can wear a long sleeved shirt or hoodie under their jersey.  Footwear - for the Under 5 age group, cleats are not a requirement, but we do encourage parents to provide cleats for Under 7 and Under 9.   Cleats provide stability in wet field conditions and we do play in the rain!

TEAM COMPOSITION:    Wherever possible, our groups are gender specific.  We will consider requests for placement on an individual basis if the request is made in writing at the time of registration.   Once teams are made, we will not move players for any reason.     Our age groups are defined by Alberta Soccer.   We cannot move players into lower age groups, unless there is a diagnosed developmental delay (parents can ask for consideration by sending a private email to registrar@ponokasoccer.ca).

UNIFORM       A Ponoka Storm jersey will be issued prior to the season starting; parents/guardians are required to provide a $50.00 jersey deposit (cash or cheque).   That deposit will be refunded (if paid in cash) or cheque shredded once the jersey has been returned at the end of the season, clean and undamaged.   Further equipment requirements:   proper soccer shin pads, black socks and black shorts are mandatory.

TEAM COMPOSITION    Teams are gender specific in all age groups.   Where we have enough kids for more than one team, a mandatory evaluation session will be conducted prior to splitting teams to ensure that teams are as balanced as possible for league participation in the Central Alberta Soccer Association.

TRAINING    Training sessions will be arranged by individual team coaches based on field availability and considering game schedules.

LEAGUE SCHEDULES    Schedules are prepared by the Executive Director of the Central Alberta Soccer Association (C.A.S.A.) and are generally available during the week immediately preceding commencement of play.

TOURNAMENTS    There are two C.A.S.A. tournament available for our competitive teams to participate in - the SunBreaker (opening tournament May 4/5 in Camrose) and the Provincial Qualifier Tournament (June 21-23 in Ponoka).

In addition, teams may opt to attend other tournaments throughout the season - typically our athletes have attended the Camrose Night Classic, Millet Classic, Wetaskiwin Spirit Cup and occasionally, in Edmonton.   These are decided on by the individual teams and will be paid for by those families who choose to attend.

IMPORTANT DATES    Use the "Schedule" navigation tab to find dates of note for competitive players.

SEASON LENGTH    Commencement of league play Monday May 6 with all regular season matches finalized by June 19 inorder to properly prepare the Provincial Qualifer schedule.

                                4.    Payment methods include:    cash, cheque, post-dated cheques (we will accept more than one cheque if necessary, but all fees MUST be paid by April 30, 2019).   Parents wishing to pay by Mastercard/Visa need to be in attendance at our registration session on February 26 at the Legion, as this is the only time we can have this option available.

KIDSPORT / JUMPSTART SPONSORSHIP

KidSport Ponoka and Canadian Tire JumpStart programs both offer assistance with fees to families who qualify for help based on financial need and submission of proper supporting documentation through the application process.

Please note - these sponsoring agencies only cover the actual player registration fees - not membership or volunteer bond fees.

If one of these sponsoring agencies pays only a portion of the requested registration fee, it is then the responsibility of the parent/guardian to pay the balance of that fee.

Applications can be made online, once you have submitted a registration form(s) to us.   Parents/guardians are responsible for ensuring that KidSport or JumpStart receive all necessary information required.   Your child will not be considered for placement unless we receive confirmation that all documentation has been submitted.

**Registrations will not be considered complete unless all forms are complete and signed, and payment completed or arrangements made (KidSport, JumpStart or post-dated cheques).

** RECEIPTS**

As per Revenue Canada Tax Law, we are no longer required to provide receipts for Tax Credits.  However, if you require a receipt for any reason, please either contact the Registrar via email, or make a note on your registration form asking for issuance of a receipt.   A receipt will then be prepared and emailed to you.

**PHOTOGRAPHY**

We are thrilled to partner with Creative Snaps, operated by Kari Grant.  Creative Snaps will be doing all Ponoka Minor Soccer photography - both house league and competiive teams.     Parents will deal with Creative Snaps directly for ordering and payment.
